SafeYum Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 8, 2025

SafeYum ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the SafeYum mobile application ("the app"). By using SafeYum, you agree to the terms of this policy.

1. Who Can Use SafeYum

SafeYum is designed for use by parents and guardians to help track food allergies and dietary information for their children.
We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or use SafeYum directly.
All information about children must be entered and managed by a parent or guardian.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: Email address, password, and profile details for each parent/guardian account.
  • Family member details: Name, age, dietary history, food allergies, and related notes as entered by you for each family member (including children).
  • Food trial and journal data: Foods tried, reactions, safe/unsafe lists, and related notes.
  • Device and usage data: Anonymous analytics and crash reports (no personal identifiers) to improve app performance.

We do not collect payment or billing information directly; all payments are handled securely by the App Store.

3. How We Use Information

  • Enable you to manage and track food allergies and dietary information for your family.
  • Provide reminders, notifications, and suggestions based on your app usage.
  • Improve and personalize your experience with SafeYum.
  • Respond to your support requests.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except as required by law or for essential service providers (e.g., cloud storage, analytics).

4. Parental Consent & COPPA Compliance

Because SafeYum is intended for use by parents and guardians, only adults should create accounts and manage family information.
By using SafeYum, you represent that you are a parent or guardian and have the authority to enter information about your children.

Parents have the right to:
  • Access, review, and update their child's information.
  • Request deletion of their child's data at any time.
To make a request, email us at support@safeyum.com.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including:
  • Secure communication (HTTPS) between the app and our servers.
  • Storing data in secure cloud databases with industry-standard protections.
  • Limiting access to personal information to authorized personnel only.
Despite our efforts, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and contact us if you have concerns about your account's security.

6. Your Choices

  • You may update or delete your account and family data at any time within the app or by contacting us.
  • You may opt out of non-essential notifications in the app's settings.

7. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 without parental consent.
If you believe a child has provided us information without parental involvement, please contact us at support@safeyum.com and we will promptly delete the information.

8. International Users

SafeYum is currently only available in the United States and select non-EU/UK countries.
We do not offer SafeYum to users in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other regions where additional privacy laws may apply.
